This pair of ink sketches titled "Waiting at the Pergola" and "Reading the Newspaper in Pioneer Square" are unsigned but in the style of Northwest master William Cumming. Cumming was respected as an important figure in modern art, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. He taught at both the Seattle Art Institute and Cornish in the 50's and 60's. Perhaps these Cummingesque sketches were done by a talented student?.
